Anyone know of any sites that link people who trade GD music the "old fashioned" way - by snail mail. I amassed my cdr collection that way a few years ago and have not traded since. I've just started exploring the whole bittorrent world (which is a bit confusing/intimidating). Until I sort that out, I'm trying to find a way to connect with folks who will trade. Thanks

I am having the same general problem as some of the others here--by efforts to trade on db etree have not been very fruitful. I live overseas and the internet link is poor often non-functional. I know this is not the proper forum but I am looking for a revised B&P where we exchange DVDs of roughly 5-6 shows at a time. Shows should be in SHN / FLAC format. I also have show list in word . If interested my email is danielkobb at estabs dot go dot tz. There are no spaces anywhere in there.

Dear H96S99,

I asked the same question back on February 9th and got several very helpful answers. Check out the thread below for more information:

http://www.archive.org/iathreads/post-view.php?id=101648

I myself do not yet use torrent sites because I have been unable to perform the necessary port forwarding on the office router I have been using at work. I am getting high-speed Internet access at home this week and plan to forward ports on my own personal router in order to download (and upload) shows on file-sharing sites with maximum speed and ease. Regardless of whether or not I eventually get the hang of using peer-to-peer networks and other file-sharing protocols (if that's the right word), I will always be happy to trade by snail-mail. I have over 1000 hours of lossless Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia shows to trade. I would be happy to e-mail you with my lists if you were willing to post your address.

If you can't access the thread to which I've posted a link above, here's the short answer to your question (thanks to tigerbolt and Arbuthnot for their prior assistance). Go to db.etree.org, and find the list of Grateful Dead shows. Choose a show by date, and then either click "Search Owners" to find a list of all registered "owners" of all registered versions of that show, or choose the version you prefer and then click "Source Owners" to find a list of all registered "owners" of that version of the show. Once you have a list of persons with the show, you can click on the appropriate hyperlink to view that person's show list, which should feature that person's trading criteria and e-mail address (usually available via another hyperlink).

If you have difficulty with this methodology, just let me know and I'll try to provide further assistance. I've had great success in trading through db.etree.org; since February I've successfully traded dozens of high-quality recordings of delectable shows with reliable Heads nationwide. It's a great network -- and it works.

Hope you find this helpful. Thanks again to those kind Heads on this Forum -- including tigerbolt and Arbuthnot -- for having pointed me in the right direction.

All the best,
deadhead66

Oh and yes, I would be happy to trade with you but my list is only in Word format (yeah, it's been a few years...). If you're interested, let me know and I can email it. If not, thanks again for your help.

I'm moving my laptop from work to home, and won't have Internet access again until late tomorrow at the earliest, so please don't be offended if you reply to my posts but I can't reply to yours or send you an e-mail for twenty-four hours or so. I should be back online tomorrow evening, if all goes well.

Best,
dh66

That's fine with me; my lists are Word documents as well.

I don't post my e-mail address on the Forum because it is identical to my full name (followed by hotmailDOTcom). If you feel comfortable posting your e-mail address, please do so and I'll send you an e-mail with my lists attached. If you don't want to do that, I understand. I will of course respect your privacy and keep your personal information (such as your snail-mail address) confidential should we communicate by e-mail.

Best,
deadhead66

most of the torrent sites .. also have B&P .. and Trading forums

you should be able to score a few trades there ... and here for that matter ..

while your sorting out your Torrent issues
